Winter Water on the Rise

January 13, 2017

The National Weather Service has predicted warming weather and melting snow this weekend followed by possible heavy rain on Tuesday. The combination of rain and snow may cause standing water and localized flooding in Washington County.

Clean Water Services will dispatch crews throughout its service area to inspect problem areas and clear debris as soon as roads are safe. In anticipation of melting snow and heavy rain, residents and businesses can take steps to help protect against flooding.

  • Clear ice, snow and debris from storm drain grates
  • To locate your neighborhood drains, use our web map tool or Google Maps
  • Make sure your gutters and downspouts are clear
  • Move snow and ice away from your home's foundation
  • Report flooding problems that threaten public health, safety or property to 503.547.8100
  • If sandbags are needed, use self-serve stations located throughout Washington County
