Bauer Woods Storm Project
Project No. 6339
This project will address siltation issues that currently impair the function of two parallel culverts under Bauer Woods Drive and two nearby outfalls. The culverts will be replaced to improve conveyance and reduce flooding risk. These culverts were identified for priority replacement in the Healthy Streams Plan. The outfalls may be raised to facilitate natural drainage or provided with sediment basins that can be maintained by roadside crews. The stream channel downstream of the culvert may require modifications to provide adequate conveyance of sediments. Historically the channel had a more direct flow path to Willow creek that would have reduced siltation in the channel. Opportunities for stream restoration that address the siltation issue will be considered. In conjunction with this project, adjacent riparian and buffer areas will be restored by removing invasive species and establishing native vegetation.
This project is scheduled for construction in the summer of 2009.
