BROOKSIDE CULVERT
Project No. 6363
This is a culvert replacement project to reduce local flooding issues. The project was identified through the Clean Water Services (District) Small Works Committee. This committee includes members from field operations, capital projects, and watershed management who problem solve localized drainage issues. The culvert under Brookside Drive is undersized and in high flow events, water backs up the roadside ditch and flows over the road. It is anticipated that additional channel stabilization work will be required near the culvert to provide energy dissipation at the outlet. In conjunction with this project, invasive species adjacent to the project will be removed and the riparian and stream buffer are revegetated with native species and will be maintained for five years after construction. Construction is tentatively scheduled for the summer of 2009. Survey of the site is currently underway.
