Scotch Broom

Description: Perennial grows in thickets with stems up to 3 meters (10 ft.) tall. Plant has dark green broom-like leaves and yellw pea flowers that bloom from April to June.
How it spreads: Seeds can spread by vehicle tires, gravel and heavy equipment. Birds and ants also contribute to spread.
What it threatens: Forests, pastures and other landscapes. Rapidly invades disturbed areas, suppressing or displacing native plant species. Also indirectly threatens animal species that would feed on misplaced plants.
