Description: A trailing or climbing perennial vine with purple and yellow star-shaped flowers and spreading stems that may reach up to 3 meters (10 ft) in length. Has bright red berries that are generally toxic to humans.
Where it grows: Found growing among non-native blackberries in parks and along unmaintained roadsides and moist marshy areas.
How it spreads: Plants will re-sprout from roots and root fragments.
What it threatens: Tolerant of full sun and full shade, can invade many types or wetland ecosystems such as swamps and river edges. Is capable of forming extensive, dense stands that displace native vegetation.
