40 years of clean water
Forty years ago, Washington County voters affirmed their commitment to clean water, public health and the environment by approving the creation of one of the nation's first regional sewer utilities—the Unified Sewerage Agency,
now Clean Water Services.
In the 40 years since Clean Water Services was formed, the community's investment has paid off for the Tualatin River, our community and our ratepayers. The river is healthier today than it has been in generations, valued for its natural beauty, recreational opportunities and wildlife habitat. Looking to the future, Clean Water Services remains focused on reaching beyond local and national regulatory requirements to use science, innovation and creativity to provide value to our customers and the river we serve.
