Volunteers to Plant Trees
Tree for All: Community Stream Planting Challenge
Hillsboro, OR — October 25, 2006 —
Volunteers are invited to join the Tree for All: Community Stream Planting Challenge that is adding two million native trees and shrubs to local stream corridors over two decades. Sponsored by Clean Water Services and the Cities of Washington County with support from SOLV and Friends of Trees, volunteers have already put more than 120,000 plants in the ground since last year. Those volunteers will see local streams run cleaner and cooler because replanting stream corridors and riparian areas prevents erosion, shades and cools streams, and provides wildlife habitat.
Tree for All events are 9 a. m. to noon on Saturdays, and are fun for the entire family. Plants, tools, gloves, and water will be provided. Volunteers are reminded to dress for the weather and wear boots. Tree for All events are scheduled for this November and December, and also next February and March.
