On March 4th hundreds of volunteers will join together to plant thousands of trees in the Tualatin Watershed as part of
Tree for All—Community Stream Planting Challenge. Volunteer tree planting events will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 in Banks, Beaverton, Cornelius, Durham, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, King City, North Plains, Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin and unincorporated Washington County. Tools, gloves and supplies will be provided, and participants will receive a free T-shirt.
Tree for All is a program of Clean Water Services and the Cities within its service district, with volunteer and event coordination by SOLV and event leadership by Friends of Trees. It is part of the Healthy Streams Plan, a collaborative initiative to improve watershed health and habitat. Clean Water Services has challenged the Cities in Washington County to match its goal to plant one million native trees and shrubs along creeks and wetlands in the Tualatin River Watershed, for a total of two million trees.
Directions to the Tree for All sites:
Banks Creek - Banks: Take Hwy 26 to Hwy 6. Follow Hwy 6 southwest to Main Street (Hwy 47). Turn right on Main Street and then right on NW Trellis. Park at the school and meet where the creek crosses NW Trellis.
Barrows Creek: From 217 take Scholls Ferry Rd. westbound. After Murray Blvd. take a left onto Barrows Rd. Meet at the corner of 160th and Barrows Rd.
Beal Pond - Forest Grove: Take Sunset Drive to Bonnie Lane (From Hwy 47 travel south on Sunset, from Hwy 8 travel north on College and follow it to Sunset Dr.). Turn left on Bonnie Lane and right on Main Street. Turn right on Beal Road and meet by the viewing kiosk.
Downing Creek - Beaverton: Take Hall Blvd.. to SW Greenway. Travel west on SW Greenway and turn left on SW Downing Drive. Meet at paved pathway across from school.
Fanno Creek - Durham: From I-5 south take the Carmen Drive exit westbound towards Upper Boones Ferry Rd. Take Upper Boones Ferry Rd to SW Rivendell and turn right. Turn right on Arkenstone and follow it to the park entrance.
Heather-Fawn - Cornelius: From E. Baseline or N. Adair take S. 10th street south to S. Dogwood and turn left. Take a right on S. 15th. Meet at the corner of 15th and Fawn.
Hiteon Creek – Tigard: From 217 take Scholls Ferry road west to Springwood Drive (next street after Nimbus). Turn left off Schools Ferry onto Springwood and meet where the creek crosses the park.
McKay Creek - North Plains: Take Hwy 26 to the North Plains/Glencoe Road exit. Turn north off the exit up Glencoe Rd. Turn left on Commercial and then a left on 321st. Park on the corner of Cottage and 321st.
Pascuzzi Pond – Tualatin: From Tualatin-Sherwood Road turn north on SW Teton. Turn left on SW Manhasset. At the end of Manhasset there is a cul-de-sac. Turn in to the right driveway and park by Pacific Metals. Look for signs where to meet the rest of the group.
Rock Creek – Hillsboro: Take Cornelius Pass road south from Hwy 26 or north from TV-Hwy. Turn east on Amberwood Drive. Park in the parking lot for Orchard Park or just further down the street on NW Sheffield Avenue. We will meet across the street from Orchard Park.
Stella Olsen- Sherwood: From Tualatin-Sherwood Road turn south on NE Oregon street. Take a right on NW Pine and a left onto SW 1st. Take a right on NW Washington and a left into Stella Olsen Park's parking lot. From here volunteers will walk 1/3 of a mile down a boardwalk and paved path to the planting site.
Tualatin River - King City: Follow 99W southbound from 217 southbound. Turn right on Fischer Rd and left around the round-about on 136th. Turn right on Montague and follow it into the park’s parking lot.
