Friendly sewer and stormwater tips get tops at Savvy Awards
Hillsboro, OR — December 29, 2006 —
The City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) awarded Clean Water Services’
Clean Water Connection electronic newsletter a first place Savvy Award in the electronic newsletter category as part of the 18th Annual 3CMA Savvy Awards Competition.
The monthly
Clean Water Connection offers homeowners practical hints to adopt a healthy watershed lifestyle. Topics include everything from cost-effective and stream-friendly home and lawn care to interviews with local residents who’ve landscaped with native vegetation. Each issue also lists community events and volunteer opportunities that empower residents to protect their environment. Interested folks can subscribe at

Clean Water Services also received a second place Savvy for their Clean Water Hero campaign in the
government service category. Both awards were accepted on October 12, 2006 at the 18 th annual 3CMA
Conference in Dallas, Texas. More than 700 entries competed in a total of 36 categories. The awards
recognize outstanding local government achievements in communications, public-sector marketing and citizen-government relationships. The Savvies salute skilled and effective city/county/agency professionals who have creatively planned and carried out successful innovations.
Clean Water Services is the sanitary sewer and surface water management utility for nearly 500,000 customers in urban Washington County and small portions of Multnomah County, Clackamas County, Lake Oswego, and Portland. Clean Water Services operates four wastewater treatment plants, constructs and maintains flood management and water quality projects and manages flow in the Tualatin River to improve water quality and protect fish habitat. Although Clean Water
Services maintains a close working relationship with Washington County government, it is a separately managed and financed public utility.
