“Oregon’s Tualatin River” Video Wins National Award
Hillsboro, OR — September 22, 2003 —
Clean Water Services’ video “Oregon’s Tualatin River: A Watershed Restored” won a Silver Circle Award from the City-County Communications and Marketing Association on September 4th at the 15th Annual Saavy Award competition in Anaheim, California.
“A solid, well written and organized video on the water resources of an area,” commented judges.The video was one of 169 entries in the TV and Video category and one of three finalists in the one-time programming category for service areas greater than 200,000 residents. The Savvy Awards program recognize outstanding local government achievements in communications, public sector marketing and citizen-government relationships. The Savvies salute skilled and effective city, county and agency professionals who have creatively planned and carried our successful innovations.
“Oregon’s Tualatin River: A Watershed Restored” tells the story of the clear successes and continued challenges facing Washington County's only river. The 15-minute video shows how the community's investment in the Tualatin River has paid off for a healthier river and cleaner water. It also demonstrates how the river is managed today to protect water quality, wildlife habitat and meet the water resource needs of our growing community. The video was produced by Clean Water Services and North Shore Productions.
The video is available at Washington County Cooperative Libraries, Oregon State University Extension Service, Northwest Regional Education Service District and appears on Tualatin Valley Television. The video is also available on-line at

Clean Water Services is the sanitary sewer and surface water management utility for more than 463,000 customers in urban Washington County and small portions of Multnomah County, Clackamas County, Lake Oswego, and Portland. Clean Water Services operates four wastewater treatment plants, constructs and maintains flood management and water quality projects and manages flow in the Tualatin River to improve water quality and protect fish habitat. Although Clean Water Services maintains a close working relationship with Washington County government, it is a separately managed and financed public utility.
